Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is designed to provide healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children to help improve outcomes.  The course uses a scenario-based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency management of pediatric patients approaching, or already in, respiratory or cardiac arrest. The course covers treatment beyond the first few emergency minutes and goes through stabilizing patients or transport phases of a pediatric emergency, in or out of the hospital.

Included in this purchase are (i) eLearning.Heart.org course keycode, (i) in-person skills session, and (i) e-textbook (in the course module).

Description

Audience: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is designed to provide education to a wide variety of healthcare students, medical professionals, EMS, an other personnel in healthcare occupations where this training is required. Initial or renewal PALS students may take this course.

Online course duration: Approximately 6 to 12 hours, depending on the level of proficiency.

Hands-On Skills Class duration:  Approximately 2.5 hours for the in-person portion.

What is included and covered: (1) a Key Code for the American Heart Association HeartCode® PALS Online course which is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that uses adaptive learning technology to allow learners to acquire and demonstrate Pediatric Advanced Life Support skills using a personalized learning path that adapts in real time to a learner’s performance and (2) A separate psychomotor skills assessment using voice assisted manikins with real-time audio and visual feedback and a skills assessment with a Health First Instructor.

Prerequisites:  Must have completed American Heart Association HeartCode® PALS online AND have your Certificate of Completion with the certificate number presented at the start of class along with proof of a current BLS certification card.  If you need to renew your BLS, you can add both the online course and Hands-On Skills Session at checkout.

Completion card:  American Heart Association PALS Provider eCard is issued immediately at the end of the Hands-On skills session; eCard is valid for two years.
