This HeartCode® ACLS course is taught in a blended learning format.  Students must complete the online portion prior to attending the hands-on skills session of their choice which is conducted by a Health First instructor at our Training Center location.  The course includes simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as team leader. Successful completion of the course results in the issuance of the American Heart Association ACLS Provider eCard evidencing this accomplishment.

Included in this purchase are (i) eLearning.Heart.org course keycode, (i) in-person skills session, and (i) e-textbook (in the course module).

Description

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is designed to highlight the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care.  Airway management and related pharmacology are also covered.  Basic ECG rhythm identification is reviewed as it pertains to ACLS algorithms and treatment. Skills are taught in group sessions and small breakout sessions that include testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

Audience:  Healthcare students, medical professionals, EMS, and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other Advanced Cardiovasular Life Support (ACLS) for working in a wide variety of in hospital and pre-hospital settings where this training is required.

Prerequisites:  Must be proficient in BLS skills.  Initial or renewal ACLS students may take this course.

Online course duration:  Approximately 6 to 8 hours, depending on the level of proficiency.

Hands-On Skills duration:  Approximately 3 to 3.5 hours.

What is covered:  Team dynamics and communication, systems of care, management of cardiac arrhythimas, resuscitation, and the immediate post-cardiac arrest care are covered with special emphasis on the prevention of cardiac arrest.

Completion card:  You will be issued the same American Heart Association ACLS Provider eCard after completing the in-person Hands-On Skills Session as you would at the end of the classroom-based version of this course; eCard is valid for two years.
